AVID is a college and career readiness system aimed at preparing all students for the lives they will lead after graduation. AVID is designed to fosters a safe and open culture, high expectations for teachers and students, and collaboration in all classrooms. AVID’s mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society.
Connolly Middle School has been recognized as an AVID National Demonstration School, meaning, any other school that wants the AVID system may come by for a walk-through to see the culture and what it’s like to run an outstanding AVID program. To be a national demonstration school, you must show school wide fidelity of the AVID system that are in place, and implementation of all the AVID strategies.
Connolly AVID students receive mentorship, positive peer group experiences, and fields trips to colleges and universities, while building academic skills to become advocates over their education and their futures.
