河村尚子のアンコールでは定番の「羊は安らかに草を食み」

J. S. バッハ：羊は安らかに草を食み（カンタータ第208番「楽しき狩こそわが悦び」 第9曲）［エゴン・ペトリ編］

原曲はJ.S.バッハ（1685-1750）が当時のザクセン選帝侯の誕生日を祝うために1713年に書いたカンタータ《楽しき狩こそわが悦び》の第9曲。ソプラノによる独唱で、領主を羊飼い、人々を羊になぞらえて、“良い羊飼いのもとでは、羊は安らかに草を食むことができる”と領主を称えています。原曲は喜びあふれる軽快な楽曲だが、名ピアニスト、エゴン・ペトリ（1881-1962）による編曲は歌謡性を強調した甘美なものです。

『J. S. バッハの《羊は安らかに草を食み》は、穏やかで平和な気持ちをもたらせてくれる名曲で、アンコールで演奏するのが大好きな作品の一つ。
2011年4月、日本でリサイタル・ツアーを行った。リサイタルのアンコールではこの曲を弾いた。最終日は浜松。その翌日に、エッセンのフォルクヴァング芸術大学ピアノ科の非常勤講師のオーディションが予定されていた。日本とドイツの時差を鑑み、リサイタル翌朝の名古屋発フランクフルト行きの直行便に乗り、交通の遅延さえなければ参加可能と踏んだ（それでも私の出番は最後にしていただいた）。
公演後、名古屋のホテルに到着すると、ザルツブルクの知人から電話がかかってきた。久しぶりに話ができる、と喜んで電話に出ると、「クライネフ先生が今日他界された」。一瞬自分の耳を疑い、もう一度確認した。ソヴィエト時代からの友人だった彼女も友を失ったことが信じられなかったようで、自分自身に言い聞かせるように涙声で繰り返した。「クライネフ先生が亡くなったのよ」と。恩師のクライネフ先生が？？？―――ショックが余りにも大き過ぎて、涙も出てこなかった。フランクフルト空港からオーディションに向かう車中、頭の中は真っ白。何に集中して良いのやら全く分からないまま、時差ボケと戦いながら《羊は安らかに草を食み》を含むオーディション・プログラムの楽譜に目を通すしかなかった。』

Cantata BWV 208 "Was mir behagt, ist nur muntre Jagd! ": No. 9, Aria, "Schafe können sicher weiden"

The original piece is the ninth movement of the cantata “The Joyful Hunt Is My Delight,” composed by J.S. Bach (1685-1750) in 1713 to celebrate the birthday of the Elector of Saxony at the time. A soprano solo, likening the sovereign to a shepherd and the people to sheep, praises the ruler with the words, “Under a good shepherd, the sheep can graze peacefully.” While the original piece is a joyful, light-hearted composition, the arrangement by the renowned pianist Egon Petri (1881-1962) emphasizes its song-like quality, creating a sweet and melodious version.

"J. S. Bach's ‘Sheep May Safely Graze’ is a masterpiece that brings a calm and peaceful feeling. It's one of my favorite pieces to play as an encore.
In April 2011, I undertook a recital tour in Japan. I played this piece as an encore at the recitals. The final concert was in Hamamatsu. The very next day, I had an audition scheduled for a part-time lecturer position in the piano department at Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Considering the time difference between Japan and Germany, I planned to take the direct flight from Nagoya to Frankfurt the morning after the recital, confident I could make it if there were no delays (they even kindly scheduled me last).
After the performance, upon arriving at my hotel in Nagoya, I received a call from an acquaintance in Salzburg. Delighted to speak with her after so long, I answered, only to hear, “Professor Krainev passed away today.” For a moment, I doubted my own ears and asked her to repeat it. She, too, a friend since Soviet times, seemed unable to believe she had lost her friend. In a tearful voice, as if trying to convince herself, she repeated: “Professor Krainev has passed away.” My mentor, Professor Krainev??? The shock was too immense; I couldn't even cry. On the drive from Frankfurt Airport to the audition, my mind went completely blank. With no idea what to focus on, battling jet lag, I could only glance through the audition program scores, including “Sheep graze peacefully.”
