Pesara Punugulu has always been one of the most comforting and loved snacks in the Andhra region. This recipe is extra special to me because it comes from my Amamma, who grew up in Bhimavaram a beautiful and well-known town in the West Godavari district.
Every summer, when my sisters and I visited her, she would lovingly make these golden, crispy Pesara Punugulu for us. The smell, the taste, and the joy of those moments are memories I’ll always cherish.

Ingredients used in this video:
250 g Pesara Pappu (moong dal), soaked for 2 hours
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp cooking soda
1/2 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
3–4 green chillies
1/2 inch ginger
