Mia and Liz met freshman year when Mia decided to transfer to Agnes Irwin. They found common interests in books, movies and world domination. Having developed tastes similar to one another, they host crafting days for themselves, partake in movie marathons, frequent concerts (where they lose their hearing) and terrorize the general public. Both Liz and Mia realized that the history book from which their syllabus was derived from had a shocking lack of notable women in it. This struck a chord with the two sophomores, and Liz approached Mia about doing a Ted talk on the subject. They are very excited at the prospect of sharing some of the world's most influential and interesting women in history!
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
