Описание: In this talk, Jeremy narrates a story of two men given gardens, one who tirelessly tries to impress others about his garden's worth and another who joyfully tends to his garden, attracting admiration naturally. Reflecting on his own journey, Holloway advocates for authenticity and self-fulfillment over seeking validation, urging others to nurture their own "garden" of life and relationships rather than focusing on external approval, thus fostering genuine connection and thriving together. Jeremy Holloway PhD is an Assistant Professor and Director of Geriatric Education at the University of North Dakota. He is also founder of an intergenerational program, called Tellegacy. The focus of his research is concentrated on social connection, the social determinants of health, specifically self-efficacy, connectedness, and resiliency in work and life. Dr. Holloway developed a curriculum focused on intergenerational programs that include growth mindset, reminiscence therapy, mindfulness, guided imagery, and S.M.A.R.T. goal-setting practices to nourish internal qualities and self-agency of older adults. These best practices for wellness & health promotion address needs related to loneliness and social isolation. Dr. Holloway is also an advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially regarding Social Determinants of Health for all peoples. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
