Tody we boot up Unix 6th Edition from 1975 running on simh, emulating the original hardware: DEC's PDP11/40.
We go through some similarities and differencies while comparing this original Unix version with the current Unixes such as BSDs and other Unixes like, such as Linux.
Unix operating system was developed by a group of researchers from Bell Telephone Labs at AT&T, among them Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie.
Unix is a trademark of the Open Group.
The documentation that allowed me to run this experience can be found here: http://a.papnet.eu/UNIX/v6/installation
For those who want to reproduce this experience they can easily do it by checking out this repo:
https://github.com/retux/unix-v6-on-simh
After cloning the repo and installing simh only running:
$ pdp11 boot.ini
That should be enough to start the emulation and booting up the system, and... having fun.
The developer J.A Neitzel maintains an updated version of Ken Thompson's shell that can be built and installed on any modern *nix box: https://v6sh.org/

SIMH project: https://github.com/simh/simh
SIMH is also available as a binary package for most of the GNU/Linux distros out there.
This experience is only intended for historical and educational purposes. The software used belongs to its authors and is not intended for any other use.
Let's turn on the De Lorean or the PDP-11 and let's go back to 1975.
Note: new version in spanish is coming soon, as last time audio quality was terribly poor.
If you would like to read about open source, Unix and Linux history I recently published https://www.amazon.com/Piensa-Abierto... (spanish).
