I Love Lucy premiered on CBS on October 15, 1951, and registered a six-season-long successful run before coming to an end on May 6, 1957. The show follows the life of Lucy Ricardo, played by Lucille Ball, a young middle-class wife, who spends most of her days concocting plans on how to enter the fascinating world of show business or at least figure some way to appear alongside her husband, Ricky Ricardo, portrayed by Lucille Ball's real-life husband Desi Arnaz, a musician who regularly performs at a night club.

To say I Love Lucy was a successful show would be an understatement -- during its run, the series was the most-watched series in the United States and it was the first show to go off the air while still occupying the top rank on Nielsen ratings.
