OTU is short for Optical Transponder Unit. It converts gray optical signals from different client sides into colored optical signals that comply with WDM international standards. In simple terms, OTUs are like trucks that carry data. Based on their capacity, they can be categorized as 10G small trucks, 100G/200G medium trucks, 400G/800G large trucks, and ultra-large trucks with capacities of 1.2T or more.
