This video presents a piano tutorial with sheet music of the famous Waltz No.2 by Dmitri Shostakovich.

The melody you hear here is the most famous theme from the Waltz, originally part of Suite No.2 for Jazz Orchestra. In the original orchestral version the waltz contains several different sections and themes.

For this piano version I selected the most recognizable and expressive part of the waltz and arranged it in a way that sounds bright and effective on the piano, while still remaining comfortable and logical for the hands.

The goal of this transcription was to preserve the character and atmosphere of the original orchestral music while creating a version that works naturally for solo piano performance.
