Just a quick video to demonstrate Ground Current at SSTC base.
The incandescent light bulb is a 120VAC-100watt is placed in series with the ground wire which runs from the base of the secondary to earth. (about 25-30 meters of #14 cable)
It seems to light full brightness depending on the configuration of the SSTC interrupt signal.
Half way through the video the electrostatic/RF charge on the interrupt remote control gives me a nasty shock (it is opto-isolated, but any metal surface in the room takes on a really nice charge).
1:2000 commercial made current transformer with 10R non-inductive resistor (to keep the calcs. simple).
The RMS on DSO reads 13.5mv: (I know it's NOT a clean sine wave, and the drive signal was modulated with an interrupt so output read by DSO is not constant in the time domain.... )
but anyway:
2000*(V/R)=I;
2000*(.0135/10)=2.7 amperes current at base of SSTC coil.
Interestingly enough the Kill-a-Watt meter was used to meter the AC line power feeding the SSTC and the max wattage consumed was 350watts @ 127VAC:
P/E=I
350/127=2.75 amperes input............
take care, peace
