It is operated on 3ES5K electric locomotives at the Eastern polygon. The Main components of the application effect are:
increasing the capacity of railway sections (up to 15 additional pairs of trains per day);
improving traffic safety;
easing the work of locomotive crews;
increasing the local speed.
Principle of operation
When driving trains using the "Virtual coupling" technology, a connection is established between locomotives via a radio channel, and data is continuously exchanged between the locomotives (location, length, weight, current operating mode, and prospective operating mode). The next locomotive (driven), going in passing, processing information from the locomotive in front (leading) selects the most optimal mode of operation.The main components of the application effect:
