We’ve talked before around maximising the value that your Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) under Article 30 of the GDPR (and similar for Part 3 DPA 2018) and your retention schedules and Information Asset Registers can have. While these things sound like ‘red tape’ ripe for the Brexit Blitzkrieg, we all know the value and power getting these processes right has on our information, data, and records.

So, is the power of 3 in trouble? The ‘Data: A New Direction’ consultation seems to think so. Ideas that have been ‘bounced’ around include replacing the need for such things with a ‘management framework’ or similar. Again, however, whatever plan the Government produces, how can you effectively manage such a framework if you don’t know what you’ve got, where it is, or what purposes it serves?
