Waugh Thistleton designs CLT office block for Storey | Architecture | Dezeen

Описание: In this video produced by Dezeen for flexible workspace provider Storey, Andrew Waugh and Ana Lourenco of Waugh Thistleton Architects, and Storey's Stewart Whiting and Korline Baumer explain the new adaptable office block at 6 Orsman Road in East London.

Designed by Waugh Thistleton, the white-panel-clad building with ribbon windows takes its name from its canal-side location at 6 Orsman Road in East London. It contains 3,150 square metres of office spaces over five floors and is topped by a roof garden.

The project has a hybrid steel and cross-laminated timber (CLT) structure that is designed to reduce the building's environmental impact while also allowing it to be fully demounted and repurposed at the end of its lifetime.

CLT is considered a more environmentally friendly material than concrete and steel, which require more water and energy to manufacture.

Storey hopes the adaptability of the building with help it to weather the changing landscape of office work.
