Описание: NATO has launched a new military effort called Arctic Sentry to improve security in the High North. The move comes after tensions rose when U.S. President Donald Trump made comments about annexing Greenland.

Arctic Sentry is not a military operation. It will first serve as a label for national military exercises in the Arctic region, including drills by Denmark and Norway. The goal is to improve coordination and counter Russian and Chinese influence in the region.

The United Kingdom has announced it will double its troop presence in Norway over the next three years. Other countries like France, Germany, and Denmark will also take part.

European leaders say that while Arctic security is important, NATO must continue to focus on the war in Ukraine.
