I had a few requests to show the technique I used for making flat plates.
Whitworth 3 plate technique with rectangular plates , one larger than the other two.
Grinding pattern and methods
The original plates were ground down to near flat in earlier experiments and primitive technology on how to remove tooling marks.
Home made abrasive filtered by letting it settle for a time and then pouring off the top, each repeat letting it settle longer each time.
