Cyclone Yasa has continued to quickly intensify and is already a category 5 storm on the Australian storm and has become a category 5 equivalent storm on the Saffir-Simpson scale with winds of 260kph / 160mph as the cyclone approaches Fiji, where landfall is possible in under 2 days. Despite the storm's current intensity, people should not focus too heavily on minute changes in the maximum wind speeds, as 5kph changes won't change the major impacts that are anticipated with Yasa. Yasa is also forecast to bring over 500 millimeters of rainfall to much of Fiji, and some areas could see isolated totals above 750 millimeters as the cyclone passes the region, alongside significant storm surge in low-lying coastal regions.
