The Percival Prentice was designed as a basic trainer for the Royal Air Force during the 1940s and was intended to replace the De Havilland Tiger Moth. The Prentice first took to the skies in April 1946 and comprised of a low-wing monoplane design with fixed, tailwheel undercarriage. Pilot and instructor sat in a side-by-side configuration and the aircraft had a cruising speed of around 115 mph. It had a range of approximately 500 miles and a service ceiling of 16,000 feet. The type served with the RAF until the early 1950s and was eventually replaced by the De Havilland Chipmunk.
