At the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino, took the stage to induct Outkast.
André 3000 and Big Boi formed Outkast in East Point, Georgia, in 1992. Over six studio albums, they reshaped what hip-hop could sound like and what the south could produce — drawing from funk, soul, psychedelia, and R&B in ways that had no real precedent at the time.
Speakerboxxx/The Love Below went 11x platinum and won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2004.
Donald Glover, a fellow Atlanta native, credited Outkast as foundational to his own career and to Atlanta's standing as a music capital.
