Описание: This archival ciné-film footage was shot in the 1970s to help create international awareness about the potentially disastrous impact that a proposed hydro-power dam on the Zambezi River at Mupata Gorge would have on the wilderness and wildlife of the Middle Zambezi Valley. A vast lake would flood the valley upstream of the dam, including the whole of what is now the Mana Pools National Park. The Mupata Gorge scheme was eventually abandoned, but the controversy surrounding it catalysed the creation of The Zambezi Society in 1982 to combat any future threats to the unique wildlife and wilderness areas of the Middle Zambezi. "Must Mana Die?" was commission by Tony Ferrar of the then Zimbabwe Department of National Parks, filmed by Geoff Peel, edited by Grettl Hughes and scripted by Dick Pitman.
