King Charles has used his Christmas message to urge unity, calm and togetherness in what he described as an increasingly divided world. Images also showed the King’s state visit to the Vatican, where he prayed with Pope Leo, describing it as a moment of spiritual unity.

A Ukrainian choir sang a carol during the message, reflecting the King’s support for Ukraine, with many singers now in the UK because of the war. The King also reflected on the Christmas story, describing Jesus, Mary and Joseph as a homeless family whose message of peace and reconciliation is a prayer for the times.

The message did not refer to the King’s health or to recent family controversies, instead focusing on the royal family's work and the importance of compassion, courage, and shared values. The broadcast ended with scenes of the royals attending Christmas Day services at Sandringham and greeting crowds.
