Born as Devavrata, he was the rightful heir to the throne of Hastinapur. But for the happiness of his father, Shantanu, he took the terrible "Bhishma Pratigya"—a vow of lifelong celibacy and service to the throne, no matter who sat upon it.
This track explores the psychological burden of that vow. Imagine the mental fortitude required to watch your family tear itself apart, to see the injustice done to Draupadi, and yet remain silent because you are bound by your word. This is not just about the war on Kurukshetra; it is about the war inside his mind.

1. The Breaking of Krishna: Bhishma fought with such ferocity that he forced Lord Krishna to break His own vow of not wielding a weapon. When Krishna lifted the chariot wheel (the Sudarshan Chakra metaphor), Bhishma bowed—because his devotion (Bhakti) won over God’s resolve.

बिछ गई बस लाश—अर्जुन के गांडीव पर भारी थी उसकी हुंकार,
वृद्ध था शरीर, पर बाजुओं में प्रलय की मार।

उसने कहा—“कृष्ण! आज शस्त्र तुम्हें उठाना होगा,
मेरी प्रतिज्ञा के आगे, अपना वचन भुलाना होगा!”

बाण नहीं थे वो, वो यमराज के दूत थे,
पांडवों के साहस के, वो उड़ते हुए सूत थे।

तब डगमगाया ब्रह्मांड, जब हरि को आया क्रोध,
भूल गए नियम सारे, तोड़ दिया अवरोध।

रथ का पहिया उठाया, जैसे हो सुदर्शन चक्र,
भीष्म की आँखों में तब, दिखा न कोई वक्र।

दौड़े वो पितामह की ओर, धूल उड़ती आसमान में,
“मारो मुझे केशव!”—गूंज उठा मैदान में।

यह हार नहीं थी भीष्म की, यह थी उनकी जीत,
कि भगवान को भी बदलनी पड़ी अपनी ही रीत।

भीष्म… वह ढाल था कुरुवंश का।
भीष्म… वह बंदी था अपने अंश का।
भीष्म… अजेय होकर भी हारना था।
भीष्म… मुक्ति को बाणों से मारना था।

पर विधि का विधान, कुछ और ही था लिखा,
सामने शिखंडी, जो काल बनकर दिखा।

नारी पर शस्त्र उठाना, धर्म के विरुद्ध था,
यहीं पर महाबाहु का, अंतिम युद्ध था।

धनुष त्यागा, हाथ जोड़े, रथ पर हुए स्थिर,
अर्जुन के बाणों ने, फिर छेदा उनका शरीर।

एक-एक करके तीरों ने, देह को जकड़ लिया,
धरती माँ ने भी, अपने पुत्र को न पकड़ लिया।

न ज़मीन मिली सोने को, न आसमान की छाया,
तीरों की नोक पर, उसने अपना शय्या बनाया।

रक्त बहता रहा, पर प्राण नहीं छोड़े,
जब तक सूर्य न मुड़े, उसने नियम नहीं तोड़े।

कुरुक्षेत्र मौन था, उस गिरे हुए हिमालय को देख,
समझ गया वो—यही थी कर्मों की रेख।

प्यास लगी तो अर्जुन ने, धरती को चीर दिया,
पाताल से गंगा ने, बेटे को नीर दिया।

वह चाहता तो युद्ध, एक पल में मिटा देता,
पर प्रतिज्ञा की बेड़ियों ने, उसे मानव बना देता।

जो जीता नहीं, पर जिसने मृत्यु को जीत लिया,
शर-शैय्या पर लेटकर, उसने प्रायश्चित पी लिया।

भीष्म… त्याग का शिखर।
भीष्म… वचन का पत्थर।

और अंत में उसने सिखाया—शक्ति वह नहीं जो संहार करे,
