Spitfire Mk V – An Overview

Описание: This new series of videos looks in depth at the Supermarine Spitfire Mk V fighter plane of ww2. Entering service with the Royal Air Force with No. 92 Squadron based at RAF Biggin Hill in Kent during February 1941, this famous fighter took part in the first fighter sweeps and bomber support sorties over Europe.

The Spitfire Mk.V served with distinction throughout the war and with around 6,464 aircraft manufactured, was the most numerous Spitfire variant produced.

This video offers extracts from the 1942 Air Ministry introduction to the Spitfire Mk V, covering the Rolls-Royce Merlin 45, de Havilland and Rotol propellers, Browning and Hispano guns, along with a look at the various points of interest that will be covered in greater depth in future videos.
