December 2022 we went to Morocco! We did an 8 day road trip visiting fez, volubility, meekness drove across the Atlas Mountains, one night in the Sahara desert and finished in Marrakesh!
If you stay in fez and rent a car it has so many near by day trip locations that are completely worth it!
In fez we only spent one full day, the evening before we had a lovely evening walk around the medina, although staying close to our riad as we had been warned not to wander inside it on our own as you can easily get lost, and it’s so true! All the little paths and short cuts are not on Google maps n it really is a huge maze!
I definitely suggest to add fez on your itinerary if you want to get a feel of Morocco because in my opinion is completely different to Marrakesh and I know it’s one of the most popular cities to visit although I think it’s a lot more “put up” for the tourists….(?) idk thats just the feel I got.
