We finally finished our giant 10-foot RC A-10 Warthog — scratch-built completely out of Dollar Tree foam board — and in this video we take it all the way from final assembly to its maiden flight… and crash.
In Part 1 of this series we built the wing, and in this video we finish the fuselage, tail, nacelles, paint, decals, and full electronics setup. After all that work, it was finally time to see if this massive foam board warthog would fly.
The launch actually went really well and the A-10 flew better than expected at first — but after about one circuit things went wrong and it went into a long downward dive. Sadly, the maiden ended in a crash. Even though it didn’t survive, this project was an incredible build and we learned a LOT building a giant RC twin-engine aircraft at this scale.
We may try to repair it… or the motors may end up in another crazy RC project — stay tuned to find out!
