How many pages is my print books | Page Count v. Word Count v Number of Sheets | Self-Publishing

Описание: This is gonna be a short and sweet video. But I’ve seen some questions on it so I wanted to address it.

When you are talking about the length of your book you have a few ways to do it.

When talking with an editor or a formatter, they likely want to know the word count of your book. Becuase regardless of font size or line spacing, the word count tells them the length of the book in terms of how much they will have to read, edit, or format.

When it comes time to upload your book or tell the cover designer the page count so they know how big to make the spine, they need to know the number of pages.

So it a page a page or is it a sheet of paper.

Best to use an example.
So, let’s say the final formatted page count for a book is 300 pages. As in, you open the PDF file and it says page 1/300.
So you probably have 290 pages of the actual book and maybe 10 for dedication, table of contents, copyright page, acknowledgments, etc.
But the final all-in page count is 300 pages.
So the book will contact 150 sheets of paper, printed on both sides.

A sheet refers to the actual leaf of paper, the page count is the total number of printed pages.
