STORYLINE
Authorities at an airport in China have staged a dramatic mock aircraft hijacking to practise established emergency procedures.
More than 400 people took part in the drill at Huangtian Airport in Shenzhen city, southern China, which lasted for two-and-a-half hours on Thursday.
It isn't clear how long ago the drill was planned, but local media reports suggest it was conceived long before last week's terrorist attacks on Washington and New York.
VOICE-OVER:
0002 A mock hijack scenario is shown on Chinese Television. The fire department, police and medical officers are dealing with the fictional attack and time is of the essence.
0012 The emergency workers had to deal with a blaze on the plane, and evacuate the passengers quickly and safely.
0019 More than 400 volunteers were involved in the exercise which was planned long before last week's terrorist attacks on Washington and New York.
0028 After last weeks events, the Chinese authorities are keen to step-up anti terrorist precautions. They want to know that their airports can deal with this kind of emergency. While this drill took place at Huangtian Airport in Shenzhen city, southern China, similar exercises will take place in all the country's airports at least twice a year.
