The purpose of this video is to briefly review two sets of chronograph equipment in Lou Murdica’s tunnel:
Oehler https://oehler-research.com/
LabRadar https://mylabradar.com/
The video is within Lou Murdica's tunnel shooting range (100 yards). Lou has the Oehler and LabRadar set up in the tunnel. From my experience (if you would like extensive information about these chronographs, please see their websites and product reviews), the Oehler and LabRadar both have significant strengths and weaknesses. Here is my experience with them:
Oehler Pros: gives you a nice printout (see the near end of this video) of the various data collected from the Oehler including velocities and a picture of the group; gives you a nice visual of your group while you are shooting (good for people who have trouble seeing far away or their optic does not give them a good zoom and/or clarity). Cons: requires significant time to set up and requires a laptop and printer (you can get the version that does not require a laptop at the range and has a small portable though but you still have to set up a lot of equipment).
LabRadar Pros: very portable and easy to set up; good visual depiction of velocities at different ranges and can show summaries (e.g., average velocity of 5-shot group). Cons: does not have a simple ad easy way to immediately print out results nor does it show group size.
Overall, both chronographs seem to work very well. If I had a tunnel for testing and set up the equipment only once, then the Oehler with the features mentioned above would be perfect. If I was going to the range, matches, etc. and did not have a lot of set up time (as is the case with my life right now), I would prefer the LabRadar because of its portability and ease of set up.
