The hospital served as the primary focus of Schweitzer's work for the rest of his life.

Schweitzer's medical missionary efforts in Africa were remarkable. He devoted himself to providing healthcare to the local people, who were often afflicted by tropical diseases such as malaria. His hospital grew in size and scope over the years, and he worked tirelessly to raise funds and gather resources to support his mission.

Alongside his medical work, Schweitzer developed a philosophy that he called "Reverence for Life." This philosophy emphasized the inherent value of all living beings and the importance of respecting and preserving life in all its forms.
