With a history of more than 700 years, the village is surrounded by mountains on three sides and stretches along both banks of a clear stream. It preserves one of the best examples of traditional mountain dwellings in the Nanxi River region. The oldest wooden house here has stood for more than 200 years. Stone walls, dark tiles, and tiered architecture blend perfectly with the surrounding landscape, keeping the original charm of bridges, flowing water, and drifting smoke alive.

Linkeng became widely known through a story of both tragedy and legacy. In 2001, Zhao Qunli, Deputy Director of Phoenix TV in Hong Kong and known as “China's First Aerial Photographer,” tragically lost his life here during an aerial shoot. Since then, this once hidden mountain village has captured the world’s attention, becoming a beloved destination for travelers seeking nature, culture, and serenity.
