#MaestriDelPov Every chocolate corresponds to a power, today choose the pink one. I woke up this morning with a heavy heart, as if I was carrying a stone inside me. Today is the hardest day of the year for me: the anniversary of my grandmother’s passing, the woman who raised me, who taught me to smile even when everything seems to go wrong, who gave me a chocolate every day before going to school. Today, though, she’s not here, her warm smile is gone, the sound of her voice saying “I love you, my little one” is gone. I’m sitting on the bed, arms around my knees, crying: crying for her absence, crying because I can’t hug her anymore, crying because I feel alone.
As I cry, I hear a soft sound at the door: a quick “knock knock” that I don’t recognize. I get up, confused, and open the door. In front of me is an old lady with white hair tied in a braid, brown eyes warm like the sun, and a basket in her hand, filled with chocolates of all colors: yellow, blue, green, black… and only one pink one, shiny, with a dusting of sugar that gives it a magical look. “Excuse the disturbance”, the lady says, with a soft voice that reminds me of my grandmother, “I’m Mrs. Ada, new in the neighborhood. I heard your crying, and I thought you might need something sweet. Here, these chocolates are homemade: every chocolate corresponds to a power, today choose the pink one. It’s the most special, I promise”.
I take the pink chocolate with trembling fingers, look at it for a moment, and then put it in my mouth. At the first bite, I feel a sweet but not too sweet taste, with a hint of strawberry and lavender, a taste that reminds me of the mornings with my grandmother, when she made me breakfast with pastries and homemade chocolates. Right after, I feel a warmth that starts from my mouth and spreads through my entire body, reaching my heart: the pain, the loneliness, the sadness start to fade, as if someone is hugging me tightly, with the warmth of my grandmother. I close my eyes, and I see her face: smiling, as always, and saying “I love you, my little one, I never left. I’m here, with you, every moment”.
When I open my eyes, Mrs. Ada is still there, with a warm smile. “Feel that?”, she says, “Invisible wounds are the hardest to heal, but the pink chocolate has the power to make them fade, because it uses love as medicine. The love of the people we love never dies, even when they are no longer with us. This chocolate doesn’t do magic, but it brings to the surface the love you have in your heart, the love your grandmother gave you”. I smile, and say “Thank you, Mrs. Ada. I don’t know how to thank you. I felt my grandmother, I felt her love. Today I don’t feel alone anymore”.
Mrs. Ada hugs me, and says “No need to thank me. The pink chocolate did its job, but the real strength is in you: in your heart, in that love you share with your grandmother. Today, when you feel sad, remember this taste, remember the warmth, remember that your grandmother is always with you. And if you need anything, come see me: I always have pink chocolates, for those with invisible wounds to heal”.
Throughout the day, every time I feel a little sad, I remember the taste of the pink chocolate, remember the warmth, remember my grandmother’s face. I go to the garden, where my grandmother planted roses and lavender, and sit on a bench: I feel the wind blowing, and it’s as if I hear her voice, telling me to smile, to live life with joy, as she taught me. I pick a rose petal, put it in my pocket, and feel strong, filled with that love that never dies.
In the evening, I go to see Mrs. Ada: I bring her a bouquet of fresh flowers, picked from my garden, and say “These are for you, to thank you for everything. Today I realized something: the power of the pink chocolate is not in magic, but in love, in the connection with the people we love. Thank you for reminding me that love never dies”.
#MaestriDelPov Today I chose the pink chocolate, and I discovered that its power is the most beautiful of all: the power to heal invisible wounds with love. Today I realized that the people we love never leave: they are in our hearts, in our smiles, in the way we live. And every time you feel sad, every time you have invisible wounds, remember: there is always a pink chocolate, there is always love, there is always someone who loves you. Every chocolate corresponds to a power, but the most beautiful power is love.
