'Such good people': Families work to bring Cleveland State students killed in crash home to Albania

Описание: Two international students engaged to be married were killed in a crash in Cleveland on Tuesday, leaving grieving classmates, relatives, and friends searching for answers.

Twenty-eight-year-old Samira Xhaferi and her 30-year-old fiancé Albi Çela both came to Cleveland from Albania to study at Cleveland State University. Xhaferi was pursuing her PhD, while Çela was completing his law degree.

"They were both just really, really smart, passionate, talented people who really cared about the world," said Samia Mansour, a cousin by marriage who spoke with 3News.

Mansour says the couple was likely on their normal morning routine at the time of the crash.

"My guess, based on the time of day and where they were driving, is that they were probably driving to work and school," she said. "Albi was (probably) dropping Samira off at school and then going to work, which is what's so scary about the situation because it's just a regular drive that everyone does every day."

Both families remain in shock as they work to transport the couple back to Albania for funeral and memorial services. Loved ones say the loss has been felt across the Albanian community and among faculty and students at CSU.

"It's been incredibly hard for everyone," Mansour said. "They both were loved deeply by so many people all over."
