GC Eagles Varsity couldn't quite finish off a comeback against Hickory, falling 55-50 on Thursday at Grove City High School. Hickory led by as many as 10 points before hanging on for the win.

GC Eagles Varsity had a strong outing from Ben Fischer who recorded scored 30 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the loss.

Trailing 5-2, Hickory went on a 10-point run to take the lead.

Fischer poured in 10 points in the third quarter as GC Eagles Varsity outscored Hickory 16-15.

GC Eagles Varsity scored at will in the paint. They went 17-29 on twos. GC Eagles Varsity rebounded the ball well, collecting 33 rebounds. Fischer led the team with 13 rebounds. GC Eagles Varsity passed the ball well with 13 assists on 20 made baskets. Kyle Osborn led the team with five assists. GC Eagles Varsity blocked four shots in the game. Fischer led the team with three blocks. Additional scorers for GC Eagles Varsity included Max Knouse (10 points), Osborn (4 points), Jordan Gamble (3 points), and Nick Earman (3 points).

Kyler Slevin scored 15 points to lead Hickory. Hickory scored at will in the paint. They went 19-38 on twos. Also contributing for Hickory were Noah Kovac (14 points), Trevor Borowicz (11 points), Jack White (6 points), Ashton Boal (5 points), Chris Mele Jr (3 points), and Ryan Distler (1 point).

GC Eagles Varsity welcomes Farrell on Friday for their next game.
