A girl called Spring wakes up from her winter sleep and everywhere she goes she thaws the frost and gives new life.
She finds a weak bird who has become cold in the snow. To save the bird she turns him into a rabbit with warm fur to help him keep warm and well. Together they brighten the day of many children by giving them decorated eggs to mark the coming of Spring.
