High tide between Bigbury-on-Sea and Burgh Island meant I couldn’t make it across in time to enjoy my birthday pint 🍺🌊 — plans well and truly scuppered by Mother Nature.
Rather than force it, we made a spontaneous stop at The Avon Inn, and honestly… what a find. A proper hidden gem of a pub — warm, welcoming, and full of character. Just the one drink there before heading off again, but it left a lasting impression.
From there, it was on to The Turtley Corn Mill to meet the family for my birthday dinner and drinks, rounding off a day that didn’t go to plan but somehow turned out even better.
