Congress scuffles with police in Agartala amid protest over Rahul Gandhi

A Congress protest against disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as a part of their national agitation on the streets of Agartala turned ugly on Saturday.
The Congress workers took out a protest rally from Congress Bhavan that was supposed to end in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue located at circuit house.
However, they were halted mid-way by police at Rabindra Bhavan Chowmuhani where a scuffle broke out between the Congress workers and security personnel.
The Congress protestors were later dispersed from the area.
Last month, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was convicted in a 2019 criminal defamation case over his "Modi surname" remark at a rally.
He was sentenced to two years in jail. Following his conviction, Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as a Member of Parliament.
The grand old party has been organising protests across the country against its leader's conviction and disqualification from parliament.
