Today I’m cycling into Japan’s mountains for a beautiful ride through the Takao area in Kyoto 🌿 This 15km cycling adventure takes us from the quiet old streets of Kyoto into the peaceful countryside and up a long mountain climb surrounded by nature 🚵‍♀️

Along the way I discover one of the prettiest restaurants I’ve visited in Japan — a traditional wooden spot overlooking a crystal-clear river, where I stop for matcha, Japanese sweets, and a well-deserved break after the climb. 🍵

After lunch we continue deeper into the mountains to reach the famous Takao Bridge, exploring the small villages, forest roads, and rivers that make cycling in Japan so special.

This ride reminded me why I love exploring Japan by bike, quiet roads, beautiful landscapes, and those unexpected places you find when you simply follow the road. 🚴‍♀️
