Typhoon Ragasa, one of the strongest storms of 2025, has now reached Vietnam after tearing through China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The storm brought record-breaking winds of over 240 km/h to southern China, leaving millions without power, forcing mass evacuations, and shutting down Hong Kong for 36 hours.
Now, Vietnam is on high alert. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has ordered emergency evacuations, closure of schools, and protection of critical infrastructure including dams and hospitals. Forecasters warn that even though Ragasa has weakened, it still carries a deadly threat of floods and landslides across northern and central Vietnam.
