MARSHA RAVEN Catch Me (I'm Falling In Love)

Описание: This brilliant piece of dance pop from 1983/4 comes from the magic man Ian Anthony Stephens who also penned Hazell Dean's breakthrough 'Searchin' (I Gotta Find A Man') which I recently posted on my channel along with some other classic HI NRG tracks. Here, Marsha Raven performs 'Catch Me (I'm Falling in Love) on the British TV show 'Top Of The Pops', I have re-striped the clip with a full length mp3 that has all the beauty and majesty of the Big Ben bell sounds. It makes for a very retro experience; reminiscent of the girl group sounds of The Supremes whilst having that insistent HI NRG beats per minute, the plaintive vocal and the catchy refrains.

A club favourite, 'Catch Me' should have been a pop hit too, but like so many of the great dance records of the time, most remained underground. Hazell Dean's 'Searchin' was one of the few that crossed over, although that took a re-release and some heavy rotation to eventually be a big hit. So too, Marsha Raven's recording is something special. I hope it brings back memories for those who were around in the day, and a nice introduction to those unaware of it. It transports me back directly to that time and a place! Two contemporaries of Ian Anthony Stephens: Ian Levine and Fiachra Trench also provided some great songs for Marsha including 'Stranger In Disguise'. They were also responsible for hits for Miquel Brown, Earlene Bentley and Evelyn Thomas. (check out my channel for those).
