Sabha TV- An initiative of Kerala Niyamasabha


The media, especially the social media, plays a vital role in fostering democratic values in the modern society. They inform, educate, influence the way people look at the world and function as a facilitator in organising public opinion.
Kerala Legislature Secretariat has decided a multifaceted intervention as 'Sabha T.V' to reinstate the primacy of the core values of Indian democracy and the Constitution with special focus on Kerala, the proceedings of the Kerala Assembly and its Committees and the Legislation. The style and tone of the programme would be broadly modelled on the early period of the Rajya Sabha T.V.
The intervention is planned in television, social media and OTT platforms. It would be in the form of time-space acquisition in existing television channels on the one part and a comprehensive social media management plan with enhanced analytics and an OTT platform which enables both Live Broadcasting and Video On Demand on the other part.
Major Objectives:
1. Present an objective picture of the functioning of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, focusing on the positive interventions and value additions in terms of law making and proceedings.
2. Generating public awareness on Indian Democracy with special focus on the Constitution and its values .
3. Highlight ideas that can add value to Kerala as a modern society and enhance its development processes
4 Discuss the contemporary world, its issues and concerns with sociologists, economists, thinkers, activists and other key practitioners who are making significant contributions to democratic processes.
5 Cultivate interest in Indian domocracy and its practice in the intelligent young viewer who is moving away from traditional TV viewing habits and is mostly dependent on content in the social media

The intervention would have a unique mix of News based programmes, features as well as discussions and advancement of ideas that matter for Kerala. All the programmes would seek to uphold and highlight the spirit of Kerala renaissance along with a sustained affiliation to the global enlightenment principle. The 'Sabha T V' will discuss the contemporary world, its issues and concerns with sociologists, economists, thinkers, who are making significant contributions to democratic processes.
