“Chinatown”, recorded live at the Tivoli Theatre in Montargis.
This tune sits right at the crossroads between Gypsy jazz and New Orleans traditional jazz — a repertoire where swing phrasing, early jazz harmony and manouche rhythm naturally meet.
For this quartet, it is the perfect meeting point between two worlds: Django’s guitar tradition and the clarinet-led language of early jazz.
Recorded during the third concert of our January tour, after an early morning journey north from Tarnos.
