Описание: Here we discuss how genes are the basic units of heredity past from a parent cell to a daughter cell. We discuss DNA's structure and how it undergoes semi-conserved DNA replication to make two exact copies of a DNA molecule. We go over the central dogma of molecular biology that DNA lead to RNA which leads to Protein, and that DNA is transcribed into RNA - discussing the different functions of various types of RNA. Then we go into the details and steps of how mRNA is translated into proteins. Next, we discuss how genes are regulated to only express when they are needed, using operons as an example of these regulatory systems like the lac operon and arginine operon. We talk about mutations and how genetic recombination can occur to make larger changes in the cells genome. Finally we discuss different techniques and applications of genetic engineering.
