That’s the proto-evangelium:
Jesus is the serpent-slayer.

It’s a promise, grounded in a covenant—
The New Covenant—promised in the garden,
Revealed step by step through history, and fulfilled in Jesus

He saved Noah, and his family in the boat,
And promised the flood would never come again—
Preserving the promise
That brings us hope.

So He said to Abram:
“Your offspring will be numerous.
Through you all the nations will be blessed.”

And He said to Israel,
“I’m your God; you will be My people.”
And He said to David,
“Your son will be king and be seated on the throne forever.”

He said it, Christ fulfills it.
Now God is our God.

How lovely upon the mountains
Are the feet that bring good news.
Tell them ‘bout the One who was crucified
Upon the cross for you.

There’s a river flowing through the city—
And it cleanses
It flows from the throne where the King is seated

He will reign forever.
Christ is the serpent-slayer.
