Kek Lok Si Temple Penang Malaysia is a 10 acre Chinese Temple in Malaysia. Kek Lok Si serves as the largest temple in Malaysia and one of the biggest temples in the entire world of the Buddhist religion. We were blown away by the grounds and how each temple was beautifully set in a well manicured garden. The 10 acre grounds made you really feel like you had the whole place to yourself!

Rated one of the best places in Malaysia to visit a Buddhist temple, Kek Lok Si Penang has two main elements worth seeing. First is the pagoda which is RM2 to enter. The pagoda is built in three different architectural styles to symbolize the union of cultures living together in Malaysia. The second element is the bronze figure of Guanyin which is the largest in the world. We were denied at Malaysias largest temple to see this figure, as they decided to close their ticket counter 15 minutes earlier than stated online and in person at the booth. Stacia was pretty upset, as we might only travel Southeast Asia once so it’s possible we may never get this opportunity again.

The temple is located in Ayer Itam Penang and is one of the best things to do in Penang Malaysia while on holiday. We recommend getting there early to avoid being denied at the ticket counter like we were. The trolley up to Guanyin has a last call of 5:30pm, but we were denied at 5:12pm, so plan accordingly. Kek Lok Si Temple is free to enter but both the Pagoda and Guanyin cost a small fee to visit.
