Flying in a 1931 Stinson "Model T" Trimotor.

Описание: A flight aboard 1931, Stinson "Model T" (SM-6000-B), tri-motor airliner, NC-11153 videotaped at the EAA event at Oshkosh, Wisconsin airshow in July 1991. The aircraft was in the livery of American Airways, a predecessor of today's American Airlines, AA. This was the first flight of the day and consequently, the left engine was a bit hesitant to start, but after a bit of struggle, it eventually fired right up. For around $75.00 you got an approximately 8-minute flight basically going up and down in the takeoff and landing pattern east of the airfield.

The Stinson, Model T trimotor was powered by three Lycoming, R-680 engines totaling 645 HP at takeoff. It carried 10 passengers and had a cruising speed of 110 mph. Operators of the Stinson, Model T include Century Air Lines, American Airways, Pennsylvania Air Lines, and Delta Airlines (purchasing their "T's" secondhand from American Airlines).

NC-11153 first served with Century Air Lines, Inc. of Chicago starting on March 10, 1931. On April 4, 1932, it was sold to American Airways and the paint scheme on the airplane in this video is how it appeared when in service with AA. In late 1934 NC-11153 was sold to Chicago & Southern Airlines (merged with Delta Air Lines in 1953). It went on to various other owners before it was eventually purchased by Greg Herricks's Yellowstone Aviation Inc. of Jackson, WY who owned the Stinson at the time of this video. Apparently two Stinson SM-6000-B airliners still exist in the United States.
