How to convert a recurring decimal to a large fraction - GCSE mathematics 7+

This video is all about how to convert a recurring decimal to a large fraction and forms part of the playlist of the same name . I've also added to the playlist on GCSE higher revision.

The question is aimed at around level 7 GCSE mathematics:

Show that 0.473 recurring is equivalent to the fraction 469/990

The question is fairly straightforward in terms of technique - although it's slightly more difficult as the end fraction is fairly large.

I think this is the type of question that would be on a non calculator paper, as they are not only testing technique, but also arithmetic skills.
