Gujranwala: District Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami, Mazhar Iqbal Randhawa, while addressing a press conference, announced that a public referendum will be held in Gujranwala starting from January 15.
The referendum will continue for four days and is being organized against the controversial local government “black law.” Through this public referendum, citizens will express their opinion against the law and in favor of an empowered local government system.
A District Referendum Commission has been formed to conduct the process. Chief Referendum Commissioner Hafiz Hameed-ud-Din Awan stated that more than 1,000 polling booths will be set up across the district.
He further added that the final results will be announced after collecting data from the entire district, and following the results, a protest and gherao of the Punjab Assembly will be carried out.
