Here’s my mandolin arrangement of Gershwin’s jazz classic, “Summertime” from the 1934 musical, “Porgy and Bess”. It’s been covered by countless artists over the years and is an absolute must have in your repertoire for the eight stringer. We’ll look at the melody in two different octaves to keep it interesting and I’ll offer up a couple of little fills and licks you may like to include.
