Описание: DRDO’s Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft

During Aero Indian 2023, DRDO has showcased 1:14 scaled model of Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft. The platform chosen for this maritime reconnaissance aircraft is Airbus C-295 aircraft. There are two versions of this aircraft being developed. The first one is called MRMR(Medium Range Maritime Reconnaissance) & second one is MMMA(Multi-mode Maritime Aircraft). These aircrafts will be used for both: Air-Sea Surface and Air-Air Surveillance.

The MRMR will used by Indian Navy for Maritime Surveillance, Anti-Submarine Warfare, Maritime Domain Awareness, ELINT and COMINT missions. The aircraft will have endurance of 4.5hrs & 400nm.

The MMMA will be used by Indian Coast Guard primarily for Maritime Surveillance and Interdiction, Pollution Surveillance, Search and Rescue. Its secondary role will include Special Operations/Paradrop Operations, Search and Rescue, Communication and Casualty Evacuation, personnel transportation & Air Ambulance. The aircraft will have endurance of 3hrs & 600nm. Both the aircrafts will have flight altitude of 30,000 ft.

Aircraft Sensors

The maritime reconnaissance aircraft will feature variety of state of art sensors to support its multiple mission. The aircraft will be fitted with AESA based Maritime Patrol Radar and IFF system. It will feature an indigenously developed EO/IR sensor which can be seen below the nose cone of the aircraft model. The EO/IR sensor has been quite a significant development by DRDO.

EO/IR sensor

The EO/IR sensor is at present integrated with various platforms such as NAMICA, Rudra, LCH Prachand etc.The EO/IR sensor used in these platforms are CoMPASS by Elbit systems from Israel which will be replaced with DRDO’s developed EO/IR sensors in future platforms. The EO/IR sensor helps in imaging of targets of interest. It comprises of HD day camera, thermal imager, Short wave Infrared (SWIR) imager, laser range finder and Laser pointer. The sensors can operate simultaneously depending on the daylight/weather conditions and display HDMI images to the operator. It has the features of geo-pointing, Geo-referencing and video tracking also.

Other sensors and data fusion

Other sensors include Pollution Surveillance Suite (PSS), Communication Support Measure (CSM), Automatic Identification System (AIS), Data links for both Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond LOS communication & Mission Communication System (MCS). All these sensors will be command and controlled by distributed MMS and present the maritime domain awareness/picture to the operators on Multifunctional Tactical Console (MTC). It shall also provide the same to the ground data terminals through communication links.

MRMR & MMMR will use artificial intelligence and multi-sensor data fusion technology for improved situational awareness.

Data Link & Mission Communication System(MCS)

The data from maritime patrol radar, IFF, Automatic Identification System and various other sensors will also be downlinked to the ground stations and tactical control data uplinked to the MMMA system.

Communication between the MMMA system and Ground Exploitation Stations (GES) is through ‘C’-Band LOS Link and ‘Ku’-Band SATCOM Link.

The Mission Communication System (MCS) provides Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground V/UHF voice communication. It also provides integrated control of all onboard communication sets and intercom for all mission operators and the flight crew.

Multifunctional Tactical Consoles (MTC)

The MMMA system will have three reconfigurable, triple display Multifunctional Tactical Consoles (MTC) capable of operating in any of the designated modes. The MTC will display the Recognizable Maritime Picture (RMP) of the overall scenario perceived by the various sensors to the mission operator. The same RMP is also communicated to the ground station via the data links. MTC also receives health information from all the systems periodically and displays health status to the operator.
