The train accident in Spain on Sunday, January 18, where two trains, an Iryo Malaga-Madrid high-speed train and a train traveling in the opposite direction, collided near Adamuz, near Córdoba in Andalusia, caused 41 deaths and over 150 injuries. In this video, we reconstruct what happened on the railway line and the possible causes of the derailment. Initial investigations rule out speeding and focus on technical faults in the rolling stock or infrastructure, such as a possible broken joint on the tracks, despite the section having been recently renovated. We look at how a train can derail, what factors investigators analyze, and what the reports on rail safety in Spain say.
