1st video of a compilation of 2 for some of the trout I caught on the Kildary Angling Club water (Lochanan nan Tunag or Kildary Loch) in the 2025 season using epoxy buzzers and GRHE's. Sometimes I fished them straight lining and sometimes I fished the buzzers 'washing line' with a deer hear sedge on the point
My most successful buzzers were black ones with orange cheeks and also orange buzzers. I have lost some big overwintered trout on a beaded GRHE as well as the ones I successfully caught. Same goes for the buzzers!
The trout in Kildary are not as free rising as can be found in other still-waters but it is always worth persevering with a dry on the point and 1 or 2 buzzers on the droppers, and some of my best overwintered trout in Kildary have been taken on a big sedge, GRHE's and epoxy buzzers, both static and also retrieved slowly.
When the conditions are right some big sedges can be seen making their way across the water and running the gauntlet of any awaiting trout. When you see a good aggressive rise to a sedge its always worth having a go with an imitation.
